  • Toothpick

Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour This is the foundation of your cake.
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar Sweetens the cake to perfection.
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder For that deep chocolate flavor.
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder Helps the cake rise beautifully.
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda Works alongside baking powder for fluffiness.
  • 1 tsp salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 2 large eggs Provides structure and richness.
  • 1 cup whole milk Ensures your cake remains moist.
  • ½ cup vegetable oil Adds tenderness.
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract A must for flavor.
  • 1 cup boiling water This thin batter creates a soft, velvety cake.

For the Ganache

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate chopped
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Step 3: Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Step 4: Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin.
  • Step 5: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  • Step 6: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Step 7: For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate and butter, stirring until smooth and glossy.
  • Step 8: Pour the ganache over the cooled cakes, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  • Step 9: Serve and enjoy your super soft chocolate cake with melting ganache!
